We asked Carmen why she wanted to come and work at Monkey Puzzle…
“Teaching is amazing. In my opinion children are small wonders that never cease to marvel us. I remember reading a lovely simile once: a child is an empty book and the teacher writes its pages. This is why I try to conduct my actions accordingly, making sure they reflect this statement.
I love children and being around them: they gleam with exaltation, self-reliance and positive energy. Somehow they manage to pass all these wonderful attributes to us, the teachers, and make us gratified with the outcome of our actions. They make us explore the world through their inquisitive, sparkling eyes and help us forget about anything else. Their affection and their gratuitous love fulfils our hearts with joy and fulfilment; it “gives us wings”, if I may draw a parallel with a much-publicised drink commercial on TV.
I honestly believe that being a teacher gives you the opportunity to explore the children’s potential at full length, highlighting their hidden talents, continuously developing/ helping them to blossom into the superb, intelligent persons they could turn into. This is my vision on teaching and I’d love to play a ‘small’ part in their process of learning.”
