July News

We’ve been making the most of sunny July here at Monkey Puzzle Twickenham.

Preschool attended their first “Farm to Fork” trial at Tesco. We must say that all the children and staff had an amazing time exploring the store, looking for different fruits and vegetables, as well as tasting them. We’ve also been getting ready for school and to help them understand more about school routine. We took them to visit one of our local schools, its classrooms, lunch area and playground. A big ‘thank you’ to “The Mall” school for having us.

Preschool and Tweenies loved the topic “Minibeasts” as it gave them the opportunity to learn about a variety of minibeasts and their environments. We have focused on butterflies and caterpillars, on Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar story and the children have been enjoying writing their own versions of the story, sequencing pictures from the book and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Preschoolers have changed their role play area into an ice cream parlour. They loved dressing up, taking orders and writing receipts for their ‘customers’. Some of the sellers even “drove” their ice cream van around, looking for new customers. There’s a colourful variety of ice cream, cones, scoops and wafers for our “sellers” to produce and mix yummy types of flavours.

We would like to thank all our lovely parents for joining us for the charity walk and our Sports’ day. It’s been a huge success and we’re looking forward to seeing you attend another one, in the future. Congratulations to all participants, small and big, you were all winners. What a fun day we had: we’ve raced against our friends, we’ve cheered for them, we have won medals and goodie bags, we have laughed a lot! When we got back, we had a nice lunch, had our Golden time and discussed our favourite parts of the day. We all agreed that the funniest races were the mummies and daddies competing against each other. Special thanks to our generous parents who donated more than expected for our charity walk. We managed to raise £60 for Barnardo’s.
