Welcome to our February newsletter.
The topic of the month is different cultures.
This month our children will discover the world around us through the different food, colours, traditions, symbols about the different people that are living in the world.
In order to promote British Values and the Cultural Capital, we will introduce the concept of “Diversity”.
Diversity:
“The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognising our individual differences. Understanding and appreciating interdependence of humanity, cultures, and the natural environment”.
Baby room activities
Our babies this month will explore the” Difference”: colours, mixed fabrics, paint, cereals, pasta, water, sand, and all different materials though messy and art and craft activities. To support their communication skills, the children will learn the different colours of the rainbow.
The staff will carry children’s activities, with magic box, flashcards and the rainbow songs. Babies room staff and children are making the family tree to help the children to recognise the familiar person and increase their communications. Will be very kind if everyone can send pictures of your family members.
The special event of the month will be Valentine’s Day. Our babies will celebrate it with a lovely San Valentine lunch and day will make biscuits heart for mummy and daddy.
Tweenies-Preschool activities
This month our children will talk about diversity: short-long, fat-slim, black-white, Muslim-Christian, curly and straight hair etc.
Our aim is to demonstrate our children the difference between the people who came from different parts of the world and help them to understands that everyone is unique and we need to respect the differences. To support this, the story of the month will be Elmer.
They also will explore the different forms of writing (different symbols) and try to copy them to improve their fine and gross motor movements as well as their pencil gripping skills. To help the children to understand their “family’s roots”, we are happy to involve the parents in a new project: “Where I come from”? We believe this may be an opportunity to talk and show to your children your culture origin and can draw together something of it (flags, symbols, colours etc). All your projects will be exhibited in the nursery.
The special event of the month will be Valentine ‘s Day. Our children will celebrate it with a lovely San Valentine lunch and day will make biscuits heart for mummy and daddy.

According to the topic of the month, our Tweenies and Preschool children will have the chance to visit the Hounslow Mosque and the Buddist Temple in Hanworth.
