Welcome to our June newsletter. The topic of the month is Animals. There will be plenty of opportunities for our children to learn about a variety of animals that live in different habitats such as farm animals, jungle animals, sea animals. As a part of our learning about “animals”, we would like to have a “Bring your Pet to Nursery” month. It would be really appreciated if you could bring your child’s pet in to share with the rest of his/her friends. We would like the children to talk about their pet to their peers. They may want to share some basic information such as; their pet’s name, what it eats, where it lives, how old it is, what they have to do to look after it etc.
This month our babies will be continuously focusing on their familiar animals.
The teachers will help them to recognise different animals, to improve their communications skills by making animals sound, encouraging them to start to use one or two words together and singing animals songs such as “Old Macdonald”, “Five Little Monkeys”, “BaBa black sheep” etc. They will also explore different kind of material like water, sand, cereal, natural object, pasta, paint, flour to mix with jungle, farm and water animals for messy and creative activities.
We are going to arrange a “Picnic with their soft animals” for them to participate in and have fun in our garden or in the park when weather permitted.
The colour of the month is black.
Tweenies and Preschool activity
In the main room, our children will be focus especially on the specific areas of learning. They will practice the gross and fine motor movement, though copying or tracing the name of their favourite animals (literacy board).
They will learn about the different places in the world where the different animals live and then match the animal to the right place.
The story of the month is “The Zoo”, the children will talk, draw and comments about the central characters of the story and their characteristic.
We will plan the activity for them to use different material resources to make them.
According to the topic of the month, the home corner this month will be “transformed” into the Monkey Puzzle Farm.
We will also introduce a “clock” in the math area to help some children to recognize the numbers after 10 and how to put them in the correct order. We will give them practical examples of the passing time to introduce the idea.
Father’s Day 13th June at 3.30p.m.
